Christine launched Hedge in 2012 and built up the business steadily over the next six years. On a very busy wedding weekend in 2018, she needed extra support and hired Sarah to help with two events on the same day. The two designers instantly recognized a kindred sense of design, they found that they enjoyed working together, and before the day was over Christine invited Sarah to join Hedge as a partner. Their floral creations are based on their shared natural aesthetic, which diverges refreshingly from conventional floral design.
Although they both received a classic training (Christine from NYBG, and Sarah from Flower School NY), they each independently veered away from the traditional pyramid shape or complementary colors. Instead, using often overlooked seasonal and local foliage, they create natural looking arrangements that are subtle in their blending of shapes, textures and colors. Christine and Sarah have a discerning eye for detail and they both value simplicity.
Their unabated love for nature always leads the way in their designs and also makes them ecologically responsible in their professional and personal lives, always pursing sustainability.
Hedge has created floral designs at the Delamar Greenwich, Stamford Yacht Club, Keeler Tavern Ridgefield, Greenwich Audubon, Temple Shaaray Tefila Bedford Corners, Temple Israel Center and Temple Bet Am in White Plains.
In addition to designing for private clients, weddings, and bar/bat mitzvahs, Christine and Sarah support many local non-profit organizations including Westport’s Wakeman Town Farm, the Westport Historical Society, Westport’s Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA Westport), Weston’s Lachat Town Farm, and Stamford’s United Jewish Federation.
